This Lionel #21791 Freedom Train was the post-WWII brainchild of Attorney General Tom C. Clark. It carried the many important artifacts of American history to towns and cities across the country in an effort to re-dedicate citizens to the blessings of the American system. From 1947 to 1949, the rolling history lesson received 3,521,841 visitors who saw original documents such as the Declaration of Independence. Leading the Lionel Freedom Train is a scale-sized ALCo PA diesel that, just like the real thing, plays the first few bars of The Star Spangled Banner with its horn. 

The ALCO PA POWERED AND NON-POWERED UNITS  has the following features: TrainMaster Command Control equipped—able to run in Command Control Mode or in Conventional Transformer Control Mode, RailSounds sound system with CrewTalk communication and TowerCom announcements, Odyssey System for speed control, Directional lighting including LED headlights and operating marker lights on powered and non-powered A-units, Dual powerful maintenance-free motors with momentum flywheels in powered A-units, Four traction tires, Fan driven smoke units in powered and non-powered A-units, Die-cast metal trucks, pilot and fuel tank, Metal frames, Separately applied metal details, Lighted number boards, Lighted cab interiors in the powered A-units, Engineer figures in both A-units.
